The re-emergence of black and white photography in the spotlight is proof that all things come around full circle. The digital camera has ushered in a whole new era of black and white photography. In the past few years we have seen black and white become a staple in our art galleries and museums again. Combining its artistic qualities and emotional depth, b/w provides us with a new outlook that is a stark contrast from the world of colour.

Some images are just better suited to black and white than to colour. Even if the picture is simply of an old boat or a rustic fishing stage, there is an emotional appeal that is difficult to put into words, but universal to all of us as we view it, which is why black and white photographs take on a more artistic look.
